At Cloudflare we observed that the company was sitting on top of a large amount of fragmented internal data, across Postgres, ClickHouse, BigQuery, R2, etc. We saw an opportunity to build a system that would provide a single SQL interface to all of that. So we built Town Lake (Apache Trino on top of Apache Iceberg, Workers, Durable Objects) and Skipper (an AI agent that turns plan English questions into SQL queries).
